Counting House On View

Applications

Apply For A Place

Tell us what you create, where you create it, and for how long. We read every application ourselves and reply in person.

What we look for

Art you pour your heart and soul into, by people who can say why. A forge, a roastery, a pottery, a bindery, a tailor: the craft matters less than the care. We take a small number of artists at a time, so that each shop can be set up by hand and looked after by a person.

How to apply

The house is private, and for now applications come by introduction. Write to the person who sent you this page. Send three photographs of your work, a line about where it is made, and where you sell today, if anywhere. That is the whole application.

What happens next

Someone from the house reads it, looks at the work, and replies. If it is a yes, we set your shop up with you: the pieces, the prices, the taxes for where you sell, the delivery, the words. If it is not yet, we say so plainly and say why.

For partners and engineers

The house keeps its working notes in full, from the first day. Anyone considering backing it or building on it can ask for them through the same introduction.
